“SeatGeek Canada Hit with New Fines in Ontario”

SeatGeek Canada has recently incurred two new fines from the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets to their original face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the fines imposed on the ticket resale platform this month amount to a total of $22,500.

The initial fine, totaling $15,000, was issued for allegedly offering a ticket for sale or facilitating a sale above the permitted resale price. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, was imposed for purportedly failing to disclose the full ticket price when a seat was purchased directly from the primary seller.

Both the province and SeatGeek Canada have yet to provide details regarding the specific events associated with the fines or indicate whether the company intends to contest the penalties. Earlier in August, the province had already fined SeatGeek Canada $25,000 for similar violations.
