Williams graced the city for a special in-conversation event and the debut of his upcoming project, “Yaga,” a captivating mystery series influenced by Slavic folklore set to premiere in October on streaming platforms. Fans of Williams will be delighted as he portrays not just one but two roles in the series.
Filmed earlier this year on Vancouver Island, “Yaga” narrates the tale of a private investigator summoned to a quaint coastal town to locate a missing heir from a wealthy fishery family, unraveling a web of hidden truths. The show boasts a stellar Canadian ensemble featuring renowned actors like Noah Reid (“Schitt’s Creek”), Carrie-Anne Moss (“The Matrix”), Clark Backo (“Letterkenny”), Sheila McCarthy, and even the original “Anne of Green Gables” lead, Megan Follows.
Despite Williams choosing not to engage with the press at the red carpet world premiere of “Yaga” at TIFF, his co-star, Moss, expressed confidence in his performance, stating, “He doesn’t need it. He’s doing great.”
