Amelia Dimoldenberg, the host of the popular YouTube talk show “Chicken Shop Date,” has announced the closure of her show after over a decade of entertaining interviews with celebrities over some fried chicken. In an Instagram post, Dimoldenberg expressed gratitude to her viewers for joining her on this journey and finding joy in the show. She mentioned that while she never anticipated ending “Chicken Shop Date,” she feels it’s time to embark on a new adventure.
The show, which Dimoldenberg started 12 years ago by interviewing musicians in the UK’s underground rap scene, has since grown to feature a variety of celebrities like Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, Paul McCartney, and Jack Harlow, accumulating nearly 3.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel.
“Chicken Shop Date” is known for its unique format where Dimoldenberg takes celebrities on a laid-back date at a fried chicken shop in London, asking them a mix of flirty, funny, and sometimes awkward questions. The conversations often resemble first-date banter rather than traditional talk show interviews, leading to moments like Andrew Garfield playfully accusing Dimoldenberg of flirting during their chat.
Among her interviews are notable Canadians like Ryan Reynolds, who made a slip-up about his wife’s character from “Gossip Girl,” and Shania Twain, who disclosed never meeting Brad Pitt despite referencing him in her song “That Don’t Impress Me Much.” Dimoldenberg’s success on YouTube has opened doors for her, including red carpet opportunities like interviewing Hudson Williams at the Oscars.
While Dimoldenberg’s future plans post-“Chicken Shop Date” remain undisclosed, she is reportedly developing a young adult drama series for the BBC. Before bidding farewell to the show, she teased “a few final dates” for her fans to enjoy.
