Apple has commenced its annual WWDC Developers Conference at its futuristic headquarters in Cupertino. The company is unveiling iOS 27, set to launch in the fall, as the successor to iOS 26. Enhancements in the new operating system include customizable Liquid Glass appearance, improved file searching, and an advanced Siri capable of tasks like composing emails and booking event tickets.
Apple assures that even older iPhone models will experience improved responsiveness with the introduction of a feature called CPU Scheduler. Performance across all devices is expected to be faster, with iPhone and iPad apps launching up to 30% quicker, photos loading up to 70% faster, and AirDrop transfers speeding up by up to 80%.
A significant update for parents is the introduction of a new suite of features to manage children’s digital content consumption, communication, and app usage more effectively. Features like “Ask to Browse,” “Time Allowances,” and Screen Time aim to simplify parental control settings and reduce concerns when children use iPhones.
Sumbul Desai, M.D., Apple’s vice president of Health and Fitness, emphasized Apple’s commitment to empowering users while enhancing their lives in a safe manner. The company is finalizing the list of changes for iOS 27, but it has confirmed that all iPhones currently running iOS 26 will be eligible for the upgrade.
