Apple has recently rolled out a crucial update for new iPhone users to address an issue causing wireless charging problems for some. This glitch has been limiting certain devices to only charge via MagSafe wireless charging, bypassing regular wireless charging functionality.
Although Apple indicates that a small percentage of users are experiencing this issue, it is advisable for all iPhone owners to ensure their devices are running the latest software.
Notably, the iPhone 17 series, including the Pro and Pro Max models, as well as the iPhone Air, have been identified as devices requiring this essential update to rectify the charging anomaly.
To update your device, navigate to Settings, select General, and then choose Software Update. The update is labeled as iOS 26.5.1, which can be promptly installed by selecting Update Now or scheduled for a later time, like during the night.
Ensure a stable Wi-Fi connection or sufficient mobile data as the update file size is substantial at 13.6GB.
Looking ahead, Apple enthusiasts can anticipate significant updates during the upcoming WWDC Developers Conference starting on June 8. The event is expected to introduce the new iOS 27 upgrade, bringing a host of features and potentially enhancing the devices’ artificial intelligence capabilities.
Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, expressed excitement for the upcoming WWDC event, highlighting the celebration of technology, innovation, and collaboration within the global developer community.
