“French Managers Questioned in Swiss Bar Fire Investigation”

Two French bar managers have been questioned in connection with the fire’s origin, according to Beatrice Pilloud, the attorney general of Valais Canton.

During a press briefing on January 2, the local attorney general stated that an inquiry was underway regarding the safety measures in place at the popular establishment. Pilloud mentioned the collection and review of videos, interviews with individuals, on-site observations, and the interrogation of the two French managers and survivors. A list of attendees is being utilized for identification purposes.

Pilloud emphasized that the investigation will scrutinize the safety protocols and facilities at Le Constellation, encompassing the venue’s capacity, guest accommodations, recent renovations, construction materials, and licensing. Additionally, fire inspectors will assess fire safety measures and evacuation procedures. Only after this comprehensive assessment, a decision on potential criminal charges will be made.

Authorities have confirmed that the fire was triggered by sparkler candles atop champagne bottles which were too close to the ceiling, resulting in a rapid spread of the flames. The incident occurred at Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana during a New Year celebration, predominantly attended by young revelers. Reports indicate harrowing scenes of panic as patrons attempted to flee the burning bar.

Concerned individuals are using social media platforms to locate missing individuals following the tragic event.
