Former Little Mix member Jade Thirlwall recently celebrated a significant achievement by receiving the Freedom of the Borough award in her hometown. The 33-year-old singer expressed her pride in accepting this prestigious honor, referring to it as the “highest recognition bestowed by her hometown.”

While grateful for the accolade, Thirlwall expressed a bittersweet sentiment as she wished her grandparents and great aunt could have been present alongside her family during the ceremony. Taking to Instagram, she shared her joy at receiving the award and posted several pictures from the event held on December 17 at the South Shields Town Hall.

In a heartfelt statement, Thirlwall highlighted her pride in being honored alongside another prominent member of the South Tyneside community, Richard Ord MBE, the owner of @colmansfishandchips. She commended the Colmans family for their continuous support and generosity, emphasizing that they were deserving recipients of the award.

Reflecting on the event, Thirlwall expressed her nervousness about public speaking but found comfort in the presence of her loved ones who played a significant role in her journey. She acknowledged the absence of her grandparents and great aunt, expressing a wish that they could have celebrated the moment together.

Thirlwall extended her gratitude to everyone involved in making the day possible and humorously added that if seen walking her cattle around town, people should mind their business. The pop star concluded by thanking her family and friends for their support during the ceremony.

Among the well-wishers was Andi Oliver, who left a comment praising Thirlwall’s achievement, adding emojis of flames and love hearts. Thirlwall, who has always embraced her North East roots, recently made history with a poignant performance at BBC Proms in her native North East, marking a significant milestone in her solo career.
