Professional golfer Tommy Fleetwood has expressed his approval of Brooks Koepka’s comeback to the PGA Tour. Fleetwood mentioned that the LIV Golf organization has not approached him during this postseason. Koepka recently left the Saudi-backed tour and swiftly returned to the PGA Tour, with his first event scheduled for the Farmers Insurance Open next week, providing a significant boost to the tour.
Following Koepka’s decision, LIV Golf faces the challenge of retaining its other top players, including Patrick Reed, who hinted at a potential return to the PGA Tour. Fleetwood, currently ranked No.3 globally, praised the PGA Tour, highlighting the quality of events and substantial prize money it offers. He emphasized the positive impact of Koepka’s return on the tour.
Fleetwood, who earned $10 million by winning his first PGA Tour event last year, is now aiming for his first Major victory. He stressed the importance of aligning personal goals and dreams with the choice of tour. Meanwhile, LIV Golf, financially supported by Newcastle’s owners, has made notable investments in players like Koepka and Jon Rahm.
Despite being a sought-after player, Fleetwood disclosed that LIV Golf has not pursued him recently. He acknowledged the allure of LIV Golf for some players but emphasized the personal aspect of choosing where to compete based on individual goals. Fleetwood’s Ryder Cup teammate, Shane Lowry, commended Koepka’s prompt return to the PGA Tour, foreseeing a positive impact on the tour’s smaller events.
Lowry, reflecting on his recent performance at the Dubai Invitational, expressed the desire to overcome his disappointing 72nd-hole double bogey. The Irish golfer remains focused on improving his game and participating in tournaments worldwide.
