“BT Launches Smart Hub 3 Router for Enhanced Security and Connectivity”

BT has introduced a new method for internet access that goes beyond just linking devices to the web. The company’s latest Smart Hub 3 Wi-Fi router is set to launch in UK households soon, offering not only enhanced connectivity but also incorporating multiple security enhancements.

The router features technology that can automatically identify risky websites, alerting users to potential malware or other online dangers. Additionally, it can detect and block suspicious activities by hackers attempting to access smart home devices like internet-connected cameras before they pose a threat.

Users will have the ability to track any identified threats through the Hub Threat Protect feature available in the MyBT app. These advancements aim to help households enhance their online security and proactively defend against potential cyber threats.

In addition to security, the Smart Hub 3 focuses on performance, supporting Complete Wi-Fi Plus to extend signal coverage throughout the home and eliminate weak spots.

The Smart Hub 3 boasts a sleek, minimalist design with a small BT logo at the center, as seen in images from Mirror Online. Notably, the router supports Wi-Fi 6 rather than the newer Wi-Fi 7 standard seen in some competitor devices.

While Wi-Fi 7 provides faster speeds, lower latency, and increased reliability, many current devices do not support it yet. Thus, Wi-Fi 6 remains more than adequate for most households, offering significant improvements over older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 equipment.

For those interested in obtaining the new router, BT’s Smart Hub 3 will be accessible to all new customers, with potential upgrades available for select existing users.

The distinction between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 lies in their wireless performance enhancements. Wi-Fi 6 improved speed, efficiency, and capacity compared to Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4, while Wi-Fi 7 takes it further with wider channels, reduced latency, and higher speeds, making it ideal for gaming, 8K streaming, and advanced smart home setups.

For most users today, Wi-Fi 6 remains an excellent choice, while Wi-Fi 7 offers a more future-proof solution.
