United States President Donald Trump recently announced that Venezuela will be transferring 30 to 50 million barrels of oil to the United States. Trump shared this news on the social media platform Truth Social on January 6, stating that the oil would be sold at market price, with him overseeing the funds to benefit both Venezuela and the U.S.
To facilitate this oil transfer, Energy Secretary Chris Wright has been tasked by Trump to promptly implement the plan. The oil will be transported via storage ships directly to unloading docks in the United States.
In addition, the White House is arranging a meeting in the Oval Office with oil company executives to discuss the Venezuela situation. Representatives from Exxon, Chevron, and ConocoPhillips are expected to attend this meeting.
This announcement follows the recent capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife by the U.S. military. Maduro, who has faced accusations of dictatorship and criminal charges, is currently in U.S. custody.
Furthermore, Trump’s administration has expressed interest in various regions, including Greenland, Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, and Iran. The potential acquisition of Greenland has provoked concerns among European leaders, emphasizing the importance of respecting territorial integrity.
The White House has affirmed that employing the U.S. military remains an option under consideration for addressing strategic objectives. Trump has emphasized that securing Greenland is critical for national security reasons, prompting diplomatic responses from European allies in support of Denmark’s sovereignty over the territory.
