“Tragic Holiday Collision Orphans Young Boy”

A tragic head-on collision during the holiday season has left a young boy as the only surviving member of his family, after a suspected drunk driver was involved in the devastating incident.

The fatal crash took place around 2am on December 20, resulting in the deaths of most members of the Contreras family as they were returning home from a Christmas gathering in Fort Bend, as reported by the Fort Bend Sheriff’s Office.

Lizbeth Rodriguez Contreras, 27, and five-year-old Camila Peña were pronounced dead at the scene. The three-year-old boy and his father, 26-year-old Diego Peña Jr, were airlifted to the hospital. Despite efforts, the father did not survive, leaving the orphaned child in a stable yet critical condition.

Majesti Faith Lee, 27, has been taken into custody by authorities and is facing charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault. The family, originally from Harris County, was traveling north when Lee allegedly drove in the wrong direction on the northbound lanes, according to reports.

Authorities have confirmed that alcohol was a contributing factor in the tragic collision. Lee also received medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries after being airlifted to the hospital, as stated in a press release.

Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan expressed condolences, stating, “Our hearts go out to the family as they cope with an unimaginable loss. This incident serves as a painful reminder of the swift impact of impaired driving and underscores the importance of making responsible decisions while behind the wheel.”

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up by the siblings of Lizbeth and Diego to provide aid to the fatherless child and help cover medical expenses for the grieving family.

The GoFundMe page highlighted that Lizbeth and Diego were devoted parents, with their world revolving around their children, showcasing a close-knit family bond.

The fundraiser also shared heartfelt memories of Lizbeth’s love for her children, particularly Camila’s infectious smile that brightened everyone’s day. The GoFundMe initiative is close to reaching its fundraising goal of $100,000. Lee’s bail has been set at $1,050,000.
