Tesco is generously offering hundreds of free Christmas trees for a limited time. These unique trees, often referred to as “wonky,” are typically not sold due to minor imperfections like uneven branches or a slight lean.
On Saturday, December 6, selected Tesco stores will be giving away these special trees at no cost. Individuals who choose to take one home are encouraged to make a donation to the food charities Fareshare and Trussell.
The free trees will be available at various Tesco locations including Colney Hatch Extra, Borehamwood Extra, Hammersmith, Southport Extra, Goole Superstore, Glossop Superstore, Bristol Brislington Extra, Cardiff Extra, Dundee Riverside Extra, and Glasgow Maryhill Extra. Starting at 10 am, the trees will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to one tree per household.
By offering these trees, Tesco aims to bring joy to homes during the holiday season while supporting charitable causes. Tesco’s UK CEO, Ashwin Prasad, emphasized the charm and character these imperfect trees can bring to Christmas celebrations.
A recent survey commissioned by Tesco revealed that many Britons value the essence of Christmas beyond perfection. The survey, conducted by Censuswide, found that 87% of respondents believe Christmas does not need to be flawless to be meaningful, with 74% stating that imperfect moments make the holiday season truly special.
In addition to the tree giveaway, Tesco is running a promotion for Clubcard members, offering double points for every £1 spent on gift cards throughout December. This promotion includes all third-party gift cards purchased at Tesco stores and automatically awards double points to Clubcard accounts.
With approximately 24 million Clubcard members, Tesco offers various ways to earn points, including purchases of groceries, fuel, Tesco Mobile services, Tesco credit card transactions, and the use of a Tesco Clubcard Pay+ debit card. Members can accumulate points to receive vouchers redeemable at Tesco stores.
Overall, Tesco’s initiatives aim to spread holiday cheer, support charitable causes, and reward loyal customers through its Clubcard program.
