“Halfords to Close Stores on Boxing Day & New Year’s Day”

Halfords has declared that it will shut down all of its stores on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day this year. The automotive retailer aims to provide its UK staff with a well-deserved break to enjoy time with their families. Additionally, Halfords stores will be closed on Christmas Day but will resume regular operations on other days during the holiday season.

Henry Birch, the CEO of Halfords, expressed gratitude towards the hard work of the company’s employees throughout the year. He emphasized the importance of acknowledging their dedication by allowing them to unwind and bond with loved ones. Birch highlighted the decision to close stores on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day as a gesture of appreciation and to ensure that the teams return rejuvenated for the upcoming year.

Following a successful half-year performance, Halfords reported a rise in sales and profits. The cycling business experienced a 9% sales increase for the half-year ending on September 26 compared to the previous year, contributing to a 3.3% growth in total revenues to £893.3 million. Furthermore, the motoring and autocentres segments saw like-for-like revenue growth of 1.1% and 4.3%, respectively.

In a similar decision, Home Bargains will also keep its stores closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, maintaining a tradition from previous years. The retailer conveyed its appreciation to employees for their hard work during the year and encouraged them to relax and enjoy the Christmas break with their families.

Aldi, a budget supermarket chain, traditionally closes its doors on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. The store will have extended hours leading up to Christmas to accommodate customers preparing for the festive season. Rebecca Heley, Communications Director at Aldi UK, reiterated the company’s commitment to providing employees with the opportunity to unwind and celebrate Christmas with their loved ones. Aldi’s decision to close on Boxing Day serves as a token of gratitude for the dedication of its staff during the holiday season.
