An approaching deadline is looming for individuals who have not yet received their Winter Fuel Payment.
The Winter Fuel Payment, which can amount to £300, is distributed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to individuals above the state pension age. Those earning over £35,000 annually will be required to repay the payment through the tax system.
While the majority of recipients typically receive their Winter Fuel Payment in November or December, if you have not received it by January 28, 2026, you are advised to reach out to the Winter Fuel Payment Centre.
To contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre, you can either call the helpline at 0800 731 0160 or send a letter by post to the address: Winter Fuel Payment Centre, Mail Handling Site A, Wolverhampton, WV98 1LR.
According to information on GOV.UK, payments are usually made automatically in November or December, with recipients receiving a notification letter indicating the payment amount and the designated bank account.
The Winter Fuel Payment is disbursed to individuals born before September 22, 1959, who claimed specific benefits during the qualifying week in September 2025. Those who did not claim these benefits must apply for the Winter Fuel Payment by contacting the Winter Fuel Payment Centre by post or phone before March 31, 2026.
In Scotland, the Winter Fuel Payment has been replaced by the Pension Age Winter Heating Payment, valued between £101.70 and £305.10.
