In the latest update for January 2026, the Premium Bond results have been revealed, bringing good fortune to two individuals who are now £1 million richer as they kick off the New Year.
The first lucky winner, residing in Suffolk, holds the maximum £50,000 in Premium Bonds, with the winning bond number 570QM451332, acquired in February 2024. On the other hand, the second £1 million winner hails from Berkshire and also maintains £50,000 in Premium Bonds, with the winning bond number 377PG290829 purchased in December 2019.
Premium Bonds, a savings product by National Savings & Investment (NS&I), offer a unique twist by entering participants into a monthly prize draw instead of providing a fixed interest rate on their savings.
The prize range for Premium Bonds varies from £25 to £1 million, with a higher frequency of smaller prizes compared to larger sums. Typically, thousands of £25 prizes are distributed alongside only two £1 million prizes each month. Individuals can hold a maximum of £50,000 in Premium Bonds, receiving a distinct bond number for every £1 invested.
The odds of winning a prize with Premium Bonds stand at 22,000 to 1 for each £1 bond. Winners are notified via email or text message by NS&I and can choose to receive their winnings in their bank account or reinvest in Premium Bonds. Various online tools like the NS&I prize checker website or the Premium Bonds prize checker app assist in verifying if a prize has been won.
Currently, the prize fund rate for Premium Bonds, akin to an interest rate, is set at 3.60%, remaining unchanged since the August 2025 draw. While the rate has marginally decreased in recent months, leading to a slight reduction in larger prizes and an increase in smaller rewards, two £1 million prizes are still awarded monthly among more than 24 million Premium Bond holders.
Recent data shared with This is Money unveiled the luckiest regions for Premium Bond wins, with Hampshire and the Isle of Wight residents securing 42 £100,000 prizes in 2025, followed by Essex and Outer London with 37 and 32 £100,000 prizes, respectively. Additionally, the £1 million jackpot was claimed twice in Norwich and Cumbria last year.
