Tragic helicopter crash claims groom and three nieces

A tragic helicopter crash claimed the lives of four family members – a man and his three nieces – just before his scheduled wedding ceremony. The pilot, David McCarty, 59, had taken Rachel McCarty, 22, Faith McCarty, 21, and Katelyn Heideman, 21, for a private flight in Arizona. The accident occurred when the helicopter collided with a slackline in a remote area 64 miles east of Phoenix.

Emergency responders reached the crash site in Telegraph Canyon hours later, confirming the fatalities. The helicopter had departed from an airport in Queen Creek, where McCarty resided and owned a home. Flight restrictions were imposed by the FAA during the recovery and investigation process.

McCarty, an experienced aviation professional and the founder of Columbia Basin Helicopters, was widely respected in the industry. The family members expressed their devastation over the loss, with Mary Jane Heideman describing the girls’ promising futures and the heartfelt condolences shared online by Elizabeth Gallup.

The family requested prayers and support as they grieved the sudden loss of their loved ones in the tragic incident.
