“Starmer Warns of Escalating Conflict in Ukraine”

Keir Starmer has cautioned that a flawed peace agreement for Ukraine could escalate into a more severe conflict amid mounting pressure from Donald Trump to resolve the war. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of unwavering support for Kyiv and the need to remain vigilant against potential threats from Russia. Addressing the Commons Liaison Committee, he highlighted the historical precedent of failed peace agreements in Europe leading to heightened conflicts.

Scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other European leaders in Berlin, the PM stressed the critical nature of the current situation for Ukraine, Europe, and the UK. He reiterated concerns about Putin’s repeated actions and the necessity of strong security assurances in any peace deal. Starmer emphasized the ongoing efforts to achieve a just and enduring peace, underscoring the broader implications for the UK’s defense and security.

Meanwhile, discussions between Ukrainian President Zelensky, US envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of Donald Trump, in Germany focused on a confidential 20-point peace plan designed as a countermeasure to a previous US-led proposal perceived as favorable to Russia. MI6 chief Blaise Metreweli warned of Putin’s delaying tactics and provocative maneuvers just below the threshold of war, emphasizing the persistent threat posed by Russia’s aggressive behavior towards Ukraine and NATO.

In a speech in London, Metreweli reaffirmed unwavering support for Ukraine and commitment to sustained pressure on behalf of European sovereignty and global stability. She condemned Putin’s actions, attributing the escalating death toll to his historical distortions and aggressive agenda. Metreweli urged vigilance in the face of Russia’s manipulative tactics aimed at causing fear and instability in the international arena.
