“Sky Unveils Free Update for Glass TVs and Stream Boxes”

Sky has recently released a significant update for its popular Glass TVs and Stream boxes, and the exciting news is that it’s available at no cost to users who own these devices. The latest update, which started rolling out to homes last week, brings a range of new features, such as the capability to manage Sky’s internet-connected devices using a smartphone and schedule program reminders for any listings in the TV guide.

The settings menu has been revamped for easier navigation, and additional accessibility options have been included, like enhanced contrast controls for text and backgrounds within Sky applications. The company elaborated on the changes, stating, “Sky’s continually evolving operating system, Sky OS, has been enhanced to offer even smarter controls for Sky Glass and Stream customers.”

If you possess a Sky Glass TV, Sky Glass Air device, or Sky Stream box, you can expect these new features to be automatically delivered to your device soon without any manual adjustments required. The update will be installed seamlessly.

The update introduces several new functionalities for your viewing pleasure:

– Reminder Setting for Favorite Shows: Users can now set reminders for shows on all Sky Glass and Stream devices, ensuring you don’t miss important events like a Premier League match or season finale. Reminders can be easily set from the TV guide by selecting “Set a reminder” on the show page, prompting a notification at the start of the show.

– Convenient TV Control: With the new digital Sky remote app available on iOS and Android, users of Sky Glass and Stream devices can control their TV effortlessly. The app allows quick access to favorite shows, channel changes, and playback controls with a simple tap, along with built-in accessibility features like screen reader support.

– Simplified Settings: Sky has streamlined the settings access, making it easier to navigate by pressing the three dots on the Sky remote and scrolling right. The quick access menu has been relocated for quicker access to settings like picture and sound, parental controls, and accessibility options.

Moreover, the update includes a host of new accessibility features:

– Enhanced Voice Guidance: Users can now adjust voice guidance speed for easier navigation across the UI and popular apps such as Sky Sports, Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, and RTE.

– High Contrast in Sky Apps: Users can enhance the contrast between background and text in Sky apps by enabling High contrast via Sky Glass or Sky Stream settings.

– Magnification: A magnification mode can be activated through Accessibility settings, allowing zooming in up to 400% and panning across the UI using the remote number keys.

– Audio Description on Demand: Audio Description feature is now available for Sky on-demand content, extending the accessible experience from broadcast channels to Sky Cinema and Sky Entertainment on-demand shows.
