Penny Lancaster has playfully criticized her husband, iconic singer Rod Stewart, for his unconventional Christmas preferences, revealing that he does not partake in her cherished holiday tradition of starting the day with a luxurious breakfast and a glass of champagne.
The former model shared that their Christmas mornings typically begin with a fancy breakfast, where she enjoys champagne with eggs and smoked salmon, a tradition that Rod opts out of due to his dislike for champagne.
While Rod avoids champagne in the morning, he still indulges in alcohol on Christmas Day by joining Penny and their sons, Alastair and Aiden, for a visit to the local pub. Penny mentioned that Rod’s festive routine includes enjoying a pint of Guinness and a glass of rosé, a unique combination that he prefers.
Penny also revealed that she is more enthusiastic about Christmas preparations and decorating their home than Rod, who she says sees the chaos caused by the decorations. However, this year might bring a change as Penny hopes Rod’s elder children from his previous relationships, along with his grandchildren, will visit from America for the holidays.
The family has also embraced a new tradition for New Year’s, with Penny announcing that Alastair and Aiden celebrated their first Hogmanay in traditional Scottish kilts, a nod to Rod’s Scottish heritage, in a touching family photo shared on Instagram.
Rod, who is a father to eight children from various relationships, has daughters Sarah, Kimberly, Ruby, and Renee, as well as sons Sean and Liam. Penny expressed that her sons take pride in their Scottish roots inherited from Rod’s side of the family.
