Nigel Farage’s former schoolmates have strongly refuted his denial of making racist remarks during his school years. A group of 25 ex-classmates and a former teacher have united for the first time to express their disappointment and anger at the Reform UK leader’s response to recent allegations.
Allegations of racist and antisemitic comments made by Mr. Farage during his time at Dulwich College have been gaining momentum, prompting calls for him to apologize. Despite repeated denials from Mr. Farage and his party, Reform UK, the group of signatories maintains that their claims are not politically motivated but are based on their firsthand experiences.
In a joint letter, the signatories emphasized the authenticity of their accounts, stating that they come from diverse professional backgrounds and political beliefs. They highlighted that their decision to speak out was not influenced by recent political developments, as similar accusations had been made as far back as 2013.
The group expressed concern over Mr. Farage’s refusal to acknowledge or apologize for his past behavior, urging him to take responsibility for his actions. They highlighted the specific nature of the racist and antisemitic remarks attributed to Mr. Farage, emphasizing that his conduct was extreme even for the time period in question.
Labour chairwoman Anna Turley condemned Mr. Farage’s handling of the situation, calling for a sincere apology to those affected by his alleged actions. The ongoing controversy has raised questions about Mr. Farage’s suitability for public office, with critics pointing to his evasive responses and lack of accountability regarding the allegations.
