“Fatal Helicopter Collision Near Hammonton Airport”

Two helicopters collided in Hammonton, New Jersey, resulting in one fatality and another individual critically injured. The incident occurred near Hammonton Municipal Airport in Atlantic County, as indicated by FlightRadar images. Emergency services are currently on site responding to the crash. The collision took place in the vicinity of the 100 block of Basin Road, according to Hammonton Police Department reports.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that an Enstrom F-28A helicopter and Enstrom 280C helicopter were involved in the mid-air collision around 12:25 p.m. local time on Sunday, December 28. Both aircraft only had the pilots onboard.

Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel stated that rescuers were alerted to the aviation crash at approximately 11:25 a.m. Upon arrival, police and fire crews discovered one helicopter engulfed in flames. Tragically, one person lost their life, and another was rushed to a nearby hospital with severe injuries.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board have been informed and will conduct an investigation into the crash, Chief Friel confirmed. Social media footage captured one of the helicopters spiraling out of control before the tragic crash occurred.

Preliminary reports indicate that the two helicopters crashed near Hammonton Municipal Airport in Atlantic County, New Jersey, just before noon Eastern Time close to Basin Rd and North White Horse Pike. Smoke rising from the scene was visible in videos shared on social media platforms.
