Dulwich College has expressed disapproval of Nigel Farage’s reported behavior, stating that it conflicts with the institution’s principles. The school’s Master, Robert Milne, conveyed in a letter to a former student, obtained by Sky News, that accusations of racism and antisemitism involving the Reform UK leader have been deeply troubling. Allegations from Mr. Farage’s former classmates suggest that he made offensive remarks about Hitler during his teenage years.
Eleven Holocaust survivors recently urged Mr. Farage to address the authenticity of these claims. In response to a former pupil’s account of Mr. Farage’s alleged antisemitic behavior, Mr. Milne emphasized that the school’s silence should not be misconstrued as indifference.
Reform UK has defended Mr. Farage, labeling the scrutiny as a “witch-hunt.” The school’s top educator, in a letter to another former student, acknowledged the gravity of the reported behaviors and stressed that such conduct contradicts the core values of the college.
Mr. Milne clarified that the school’s reticence in making public statements was to safeguard its reputation for the future, not a sign of apathy. He emphasized that the actions described are entirely incompatible with the current ethos of Dulwich College, highlighting the institution’s firm policies on equality, diversity, and inclusion, as well as robust anti-bullying measures.
Nigel Farage has been under intense scrutiny following these allegations. While Reform’s deputy leader dismissed the claims as baseless, Mr. Farage later acknowledged the remarks but claimed they were not malicious. He attributed some of his past comments to youthful indiscretion and suggested a political motive behind the recent attention.
Reform has been contacted for comment by the Mirror, with a party spokesperson denouncing the situation as an attempt to discredit both the party and Nigel Farage. They criticized the focus on decades-old allegations as a diversion from substantive policy debates and accused the media and Labour Party of resorting to desperate tactics.
The party spokesperson concluded that the British public sees through these tactics.
