“Coronation Street Star Rob Mallard Opens Up About Essential Tremor”

Daniel Osbourne, portrayed by Rob Mallard since 1995, has become a key figure in Coronation Street as the son of Ken Barlow (William Roache), involved in various intense storylines. His journey in Weatherfield has been filled with drama, including tumultuous relationships, a harrowing attack on his father, and the heartbreaking death of his wife Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn).

Throughout the years, Daniel has experienced a series of romantic entanglements on the famous cobbles. At present, he is deeply in love with Megan (Beth Nixon), who is secretly grooming young Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale). Off-screen, Rob is in a relationship with fellow actor Matthew Martin.

In June 2023, Rob unveiled his new partner at the British Soap Awards, sharing a photo of them on the red carpet with a caption expressing joy. Earlier in the year, Matthew appeared on Coronation Street as a police officer in a gripping episode featuring Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney).

Rob previously dated Daniel Brocklebank, who plays vicar Billy Mayhew on the show, with their relationship publicly acknowledged in 2017 at the British LGBT awards before they amicably separated two months later.

In June 2024, Rob disclosed his diagnosis of essential tremor, a progressive neurological disorder causing tremors. Despite facing challenges on stage due to the condition, Rob has been managing his symptoms while continuing his work on Coronation Street.

Rob’s essential tremor has advanced over time, affecting his daily activities and raising concerns about his professional future. While exploring treatment options like focused ultrasound therapy, he remains committed to raising awareness about the condition and supporting others who may be experiencing similar challenges.

By sharing his journey with essential tremor, Rob hopes to remove the stigma associated with the condition and educate others about living with neurological disorders.
