Coleen Nolan shared her feelings of sorrow during the holiday season after the passing of her sister, Linda Nolan. This Christmas marks the first one without Linda, who succumbed to pneumonia while battling cancer in January.
In a recent statement, the Loose Women personality expressed that celebrating Christmas without her sister will be particularly challenging since Linda was known as the heart and soul of family gatherings.
Reflecting on their family traditions, Coleen, aged 60, mentioned that their yearly Christmas reunions have become impossible with the absence of their parents and the expansion of their own families.
Regarding their upcoming Christmas plans, Coleen mentioned attempting to gather during the period between Christmas and New Year, known as Twixmas. She emphasized the void left by Linda’s absence, acknowledging the significant impact it will have on their festivities.
Linda’s cancer journey began in 2005 with a diagnosis of breast cancer, progressing to secondary cancer near her pelvis and hip bone in 2017. Subsequently, the disease spread to her liver before affecting her brain with multiple tumors.
In a heartfelt message, Linda’s sister Maureen Nolan clarified that cancer was not the cause of her passing, attributing it to double pneumonia aggravated by her weakened immune system.
The Nolan family has faced numerous cancer battles, with four of the sisters receiving diagnoses over the years. Tragically, Bernie Nolan lost her battle to breast cancer in 2013 at the age of 52.
Coleen revealed her own health struggles, sharing her experience with skin cancer on her shoulder and the subsequent treatment she underwent. Despite the family’s history with cancer, she maintained a positive outlook on her situation.
While Coleen will miss her late sisters this Christmas, she finds solace in welcoming two new grandsons into her life. Her son Shane Nolan and his partner Kimberley welcomed their first child in November, shortly after her daughter Ciara became a mother for the first time.
