Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been cleared to play after being removed from the seven-day injured list. He is set to take the field on Saturday against the New York Yankees. Guerrero exited a match against the Yankees in Toronto last week following a collision with George Lombard Jr., a rookie shortstop for New York, during a peculiar play at third base in the sixth inning. The incident occurred when Guerrero slid at third base, and Lombard’s knee and thigh made contact with his head, causing his helmet to come off. Despite the injury, Guerrero managed to score the tying run before leaving the game. After successfully completing his concussion tests, Guerrero rejoined the team on Friday and participated in batting practice after playing in a minor league rehab game for single-A Dunedin, where he hit a double. In the next game against the Yankees, Guerrero was slotted second in the batting lineup following Toronto’s 3-1 loss in the series opener on Friday. As part of the roster adjustments, the Blue Jays demoted Davis Schneider, an infielder/outfielder, to triple-A Buffalo. Guerrero currently boasts a batting average of .263 with seven home runs and 46 runs batted in. Prior to the injury, he had a .310 batting average, going 7 for 29 in his last seven games.
