Three-time Olympian Michelle Plouffe has decided to end her retirement and make a comeback to join Canada’s four-member squad for the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series event in Bangkok, Thailand. The 33-year-old Plouffe will team up with her twin sister Katherine Plouffe, along with Cassandra Brown and Paige Crozon for the upcoming competition starting this Saturday.
Currently, Canada holds the 10th position in the women’s series standings as they head into the final phase of the regular season. The top seven teams, in addition to host China, will progress to the women’s series final scheduled in Shanghai on September 5-6. Therefore, Bangkok presents one of Canada’s last chances to accumulate crucial qualification points.
Steve Baur, the vice-president and general manager of Canada Basketball’s women’s high performance program, expressed confidence in Michelle’s return, stating that her rejoining the team aligns well with their strategic goals towards Shanghai. Michelle’s close ties to the game and the team, along with ongoing discussions about her potential comeback, led to this decision.
Having retired on July 28, 2025, to take on the role of Canada Basketball’s 3×3 performance manager, Michelle Plouffe boasts an impressive track record, guiding Canada to numerous FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series titles, a silver medal at the 2022 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, and a commendable fourth-place finish at the Paris Olympics.
