In a recent social media post, U.S. President Donald Trump declared plans for what he described as “the MOST CRUSHING ECONOMIC OPERATION EVER TAKEN AGAINST ANY COUNTRY!” This operation, labeled as Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale, was revealed on Truth Social with limited specifics provided.
Trump also cautioned about the economic repercussions for any nation supporting Tehran or extending any form of support to Iran. He emphasized that any country allowing its financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities to assist Iran would face significant economic consequences.
Although not detailing the specific actions the U.S. would take against such countries and refraining from naming any directly, Trump insisted on immediate cessation of activities like oil smuggling, swap lines, cash transfers, exchange houses, ship registries, and front companies, addressing them with a direct appeal: “It all needs to stop NOW. You know who you are.”
The ongoing conflict in the region has resulted in numerous casualties over six months, drawing involvement from Gulf nations and causing disruptions in global markets, particularly as Iran showcased its control over shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz, crucial for oil trade worldwide.
Despite attempts at ceasefire agreements between the U.S. and Iran in April and June to restore normal shipping operations through Hormuz, followed by Israel’s partial withdrawal from the conflict it entered with the U.S., these agreements quickly collapsed.
