Tesco to Convert Amazon Fresh Sites into 70+ Stores

Tesco is planning to open more than 70 new Express stores across the United Kingdom by converting former Amazon Fresh sites it has acquired. These Amazon Fresh locations, including Kensington High Street, Hounslow, Moorgate, Aldgate East, and Wembley in London, will be rebranded as Tesco Express stores by March next year. The reopening of these sites in London is expected before the summer season. Last September, Amazon closed its remaining 19 Fresh stores.

Nick Johnson, Tesco Group Property Director, expressed enthusiasm about expanding their store network to reach more customers and communities, emphasizing their commitment to providing quality products, value, and excellent customer service.

In a bid to assist struggling households, Worcestershire County Council is offering up to £500 in energy bill support. To qualify for this support, residents must reside in Malvern, Worcester, Wychavon, Bromsgrove, Redditch, or Wyre Forest District, with an annual gross household income below £24,570 for single individuals without children and £31,000 for other households, excluding benefits. Additionally, applicants must have no household savings and meet specific vulnerability criteria.

Nurseries have been cautioned against charging additional fees to parents for utilizing their free childcare hours. Children aged between nine months and four years can access 15 to 30 free childcare hours weekly during term-time. Following updated guidance from the Department of Education, childcare providers can only charge for optional extras like meals or trips, ensuring transparency and flexibility for parents.

InPost, a parcel locker group, is set to be acquired by a consortium led by FedEx and Advent for £6.8 billion. The deal will allow InPost to expand its presence in various European markets, including the UK, where it aims to increase its locker points from 14,000 to 30,000. The company will continue to operate under the InPost brand with its headquarters in Poland.

Superdrug has announced plans to open 30 new stores in the UK, creating around 600 jobs. These new locations will offer Superdrug Beauty Studios for services such as ear piercing and manicures. The expansion includes sites in England, Scotland, and Wales to cater to a wider customer base.
