Ronnie O’Sullivan, a renowned snooker player, is set to make history by aiming to secure two world titles at the Crucible within a month. The 50-year-old, known for his competitiveness, will participate in the World Seniors Snooker Championship alongside other senior circuit players. This spring, O’Sullivan will strive to clinch his eighth World Championship title, marking his 34th consecutive appearance at the prestigious event.

Scheduled to debut in the senior tournament starting on May 6 in Yorkshire, O’Sullivan’s participation has been confirmed by the World Seniors Snooker Tour. Described as the sport’s most commercially successful and captivating figure, O’Sullivan’s presence is expected to elevate the competition’s caliber with a star-studded lineup including world champions Mark Williams, Stuart Bingham, and Ken Doherty.

The tournament will also feature notable players such as Jimmy White, Matthew Stevens, and current Seniors British Open Champion Joe Perry. The Chairman of the tour, Jason Francis, expressed excitement over O’Sullivan’s debut, highlighting the increased ticket sales and anticipation surrounding the event.

Following recent rule changes by the World Snooker Tour, professional players aged 45 or older and ranked in the top 64 are now eligible to compete in veterans’ circuits. O’Sullivan, with seven world titles to his name, aims to add to his illustrious career achievements, including his latest success in 2022 that tied him with Stephen Hendry’s record.

Hendry, a former world champion, has voiced support for O’Sullivan’s pursuit of an eighth title, emphasizing the significance of winning at a young age. Reflecting on his own career milestones, Hendry expressed pride in his achievements and acknowledged O’Sullivan’s exceptional talent and potential to secure further successes in the sport.
