Two individuals were shot by ICE officers in the United States following a recent incident in Minneapolis. The shooting occurred in Portland near East Burnside and 141st Avenue. Portland City Council President Elana Pirtle-Guiney mentioned that the victims are believed to be alive, but there is no update on their current condition. The FBI is leading the investigation into the incident.
The shootings took place amidst widespread anti-ICE protests across the US, including in Portland, triggered by the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old woman named Renee Good. Good was killed by an ICE officer while attempting to drive away during an operation related to immigration enforcement. Vice President JD Vance referred to Good’s death as a tragedy of her own making.
Vance stated that, based on video evidence of the incident, Good accelerated her car into the officer. However, footage does not definitively show contact between the vehicle and the officer. Vance criticized what he described as a left-wing ideology influencing Good’s actions. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey disputed claims of self-defense by the officer, while President Trump asserted that Good deliberately struck the ICE officer.
In response to the incident, Trump deployed federal law enforcement officials and National Guard troops to address crime and immigration in Democratic cities. The White House condemned Good’s killing as part of a larger left-wing movement and pledged to intensify efforts to remove criminal illegal immigrants from American streets.
