However, Trump, aged 79, has labeled the disgraced rapper as “very hostile” and indicated that he will not grant the request. The two were previously close friends, but their relationship deteriorated when Trump entered the presidential race in 2016.
Following Combs’ conviction on prostitution-related charges, which led to a 50-month jail sentence in October, the music industry figure known as P Diddy is now seeking help from his former ally. Despite Combs reaching out to Trump through a letter last month, the President has made it clear that he has no intention of pardoning him.
Trump cited Combs’ negative remarks about him during the 2016 election campaign as the reason for their falling out. Despite their past friendship, Trump emphasized the difficulty of considering the pardon request due to the strained relationship.
Although photographs show a history of interactions between P Diddy and Trump in the late 1990s, during Combs’ peak fame and Trump’s real estate success, the current situation remains unresolved. The New York Times reported that Combs’ recent appeal for a pardon, less than three months into his prison term, has not swayed Trump’s stance.
When questioned about the pardon request, Trump suggested he had received a letter from Combs but did not reveal its contents. This refusal aligns with Trump’s previous statements to the media, indicating his reluctance to consider pardoning the 56-year-old music mogul convicted of prostitution-related charges but acquitted of more serious allegations.
