A devoted admirer of Princess Diana, known as a ‘Princess Diana superfan,’ was seen among the spectators at Sandringham on Christmas Day by Prince William. The prince then introduced the superfan, John Loughrey, to his three children during their traditional Christmas Day service at the church.
Loughrey, recognized by his distinct hat adorned with pins, engaged with Prince George, expressing that Princess Diana would be proud of him. Later, Princess Kate acknowledged Loughrey and humorously mentioned that she sees him everywhere.
Prince William and his children interacted with royal enthusiasts, with William specifically greeting Loughrey and ensuring that Prince Louis also exchanged greetings with the superfan. Loughrey conveyed his admiration for the young royals, mentioning that “Nanny Diana would be ever so proud of you.”
The encounter was cordial, with Prince William expressing gratitude towards Loughrey’s kind words, and Prince George responding with thanks. Loughrey, a resident of Wandsworth, London, presented the royal children with Christmas gifts, including chocolates and a large teddy bear that caught Prince Louis’s attention.
Princess Kate later conversed with Loughrey, acknowledging his presence and thanking him for a bouquet of flowers. Before departing, she hinted at a future meeting, saying, “Hopefully I will see you at our next engagement.”
Loughrey’s dedication was evident as he arrived at Sandringham the night before Christmas, camping outside the estate to secure his place as the first to greet the royal family on Christmas Day. Even King Charles recognized the superfan, remarking on the additions to his badge collection on his hat.
While most of the Royal Family attended the Christmas service, Prince Andrew was notably absent due to the controversy surrounding his association with Jeffrey Epstein. Despite Andrew’s absence, his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, were present at Sandringham with the rest of the family.
