“Sky Unveils Interactive F1 Upgrade for 2026 Season”

The F1 season has kicked off with George Russell securing a win in Melbourne. Fans are in for a treat as the calendar will span the globe in 2026. Sky has exciting news for its customers, announcing a significant TV upgrade tailored to enhance the live sports viewing experience.

The imminent update will bring a fresh interactive dimension for viewers. Sky is introducing a smart sidebar that will pop up during race weekends, offering features like Race Control access and a Recap option to swiftly replay thrilling moments. Additionally, viewers can easily check real-time in-race standings.

In addition to enhanced race interaction, the update will unveil dedicated driver and team pages, granting fans access to onboard cameras, enriched race data, explainers, and improved homepage navigation.

Curious about how to access these new features? Sky Sports subscribers using Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q devices will enjoy them for free.

While an exact launch date is yet to be confirmed by Sky, the upgrade is expected to be rolled out later in the season. Existing Sky Sports subscribers will automatically receive the new features at no extra charge.

Formula 1 enthusiasts can catch all the action live with Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, which includes every practice, qualifier, and race, offering a savings of £336 in an introductory deal. This package also provides access to around 100 TV channels, along with complimentary subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.

Sky shared in a statement to Express.co.uk that fans can anticipate more flexibility and choice with a new immersive sidebar for TV viewing during race weekends in 2026.

In addition to the F1 upgrade, Sky has unveiled the Ultimate TV subscription plan, bundling major streaming services at a reduced monthly rate of £24. This package caters to both new and existing customers, granting access to Disney+, Netflix, Hayu, and the upcoming HBO Max app in the UK.

According to Sky, this bundle offers exceptional value by consolidating approximately £20 worth of streaming services in one convenient package. The Ultimate TV plan includes Netflix Standard with Ads, Disney+ Standard with Ads (from March), HBO Max Basic with Ads (from March 26), Hayu (from July, with selected shows available from March), and over 130 Sky channels.
