Police have unveiled a photo of a potential perpetrator following an incident where a man armed with a hammer and knife broke into a residence and attacked a man and a woman. The authorities are currently present at the location in the Chippendale Avenue vicinity of Bangor, Co Down, Northern Ireland, in the aftermath of the assault that occurred on Christmas Eve, resulting in injuries to two individuals. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has cautioned the public against approaching the individual. Described as approximately 5ft 10in tall, with short dark hair, he was last seen donning a blue hoodie, grey coat, dark T-shirt, blue jeans, and dark trainers with white soles.
According to a spokesperson for the police, the incident unfolded around 3.30 pm on Wednesday, December 24th, when law enforcement received a distress call regarding a male armed with a hammer and knife who invaded a residential property and assaulted a woman in her 50s and a man in his 20s before fleeing the scene on foot while still carrying the weapons.
Both victims were swiftly transported to a medical facility for necessary treatment, with one previously reported to be in critical condition by law enforcement. The PSNI spokesperson stated, “An inquiry is currently in progress, with active efforts being undertaken to apprehend the suspect. We urge the public not to approach him if spotted but to maintain a safe distance and promptly contact the authorities at 101, quoting reference number 914 of 24/12/25.”
