Households seeking television viewing options without recurring fees now have expanded choices. Freely was initially introduced in 2024, providing access to live channels through a broadband connection. Initially, it was limited to select new TV models, but in the past 18 months, more manufacturers like Hisense, Toshiba, and Sharp have integrated Freely into their screens. Until recently, individuals interested in accessing live and on-demand content through Freely had to purchase a new television from a tech retailer.
Fortunately, this has changed with Manhattan’s technology team unveiling a new Freely-enabled set-top box, the Aero 4K. This device provides over 60 live channels and on-demand content for free, without requiring a costly subscription, and can be connected to any existing TV in the household.
The Aero 4K offers additional features such as voice search, personalized recommendations, a comprehensive TV guide, and the ability to pause live programming. Users who have subscriptions to platforms like Disney+ and Netflix can also access these applications through the device.
Priced at £69.99, the Aero 4K has gained popularity among consumers. Currys is the first retailer in the UK to stock the Manhattan Aero 4K, and it has quickly sold out. The device is expected to be restocked soon according to Currys representatives.
Interested buyers can register their email on the Currys website to receive alerts once the Aero 4K is available again. Other retailers like Amazon and John Lewis are also anticipated to offer the device in the near future.
Once back in stock, the Aero 4K will compete with products such as Virgin’s Stream box and Sky Stream, all of which eliminate the need for aerials or dishes by streaming content through the internet.
Transitioning to streaming services offers benefits like simplified installation processes without requiring technician visits and more frequent software updates. Freely recently announced a user milestone of over a million, indicating a growing trend of consumers shifting from traditional viewing methods to streaming services.
