“15-Year-Old Mitchell Lawrie Makes Darts History”

A remarkable 15-year-old darts player, Mitchell Lawrie, has left Luke Littler amazed with his outstanding performances at the WDF World Championship held at Lakeside. Lawrie, born in 2010, made history by becoming the youngest player to win at Lakeside by defeating Tomoya Maruyama and Jason Brandon with impressive displays, including hitting five maximums and achieving remarkable checkouts.

Lawrie’s exceptional performance also saw him record a tournament-high average of 97.21. Littler expressed his astonishment at Lawrie’s talent by commenting on the WDF Darts Instagram account, calling him “a joke.”

Lawrie, filled with pride, reflected on his victory over Brandon, stating, “I’m absolutely buzzing with myself.” Despite facing a tough opponent in Brandon, Lawrie was able to maintain a fast start and secure a convincing win.

In the match, Lawrie showcased his skill by finishing each leg in the first set within less than 15 darts and narrowly missing a potential nine-dart finish before executing a brilliant 134 checkout. Lawrie acknowledged the crowd’s support and credited them for boosting his performance.

Although Lawrie faced some pressure towards the end of the match as Brandon mounted a comeback, Lawrie elevated his game to clinch the victory. Lawrie admitted to a momentary lapse in concentration but quickly refocused to secure the win.

Despite missing his first match darts, Lawrie remained composed, attributing the miss to external distractions. Looking ahead, the PDC World Darts Championship is set to commence on December 11, with fans able to watch all matches live exclusively on Sky with the Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle.
