Actor Sean Bean’s spouse, Ashley Moore, has disclosed her undisclosed battle with cancer by sharing a photo from her hospital stay. Ashley, aged 40, chose to reveal her health struggle that she had kept private while expressing gratitude to the “strong women” in her life.
The 66-year-old Game of Thrones actor tied the knot with Ashley eight years ago and hailed her as “the one” after experiencing four failed marriages. However, what many were unaware of is that Ashley had previously fought a cancer diagnosis in private.
Ashley has now publicly announced that she is a cancer survivor, having received a clean bill of health in 2020. In her announcement, she shared pictures of herself in a hospital gown, smiling through her treatment.
“I’ve had a journey that many are unaware of,” she shared. “But I take pride in being a resilient woman and having such supportive strong women by my side.”
In a candid post to her followers, Ashley wrote, “I am now cancer-free. Embracing life more fully makes you value everything so much.” Ashley did not disclose the timing of her cancer diagnosis or the specific type she confronted.
The couple, who exchanged vows in 2017, made a rare public appearance just last week at the premiere of Sean’s latest project, Robin Hood. Ashley accompanied him to the premiere of his new TV series portraying the renowned Nottingham outlaw who stole from the wealthy to aid the poor.
Renowned for his roles in Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, the Sheffield-born actor Sean Bean stars as the Sheriff of Nottingham in the forthcoming series, set to premiere on November 2.
Sean appeared sharp in a camel-colored suit paired with burgundy brogues and a matching tie, while Ashley sported a black trouser suit accessorized with a Chanel necklace.
Sean and former actress Ashley serendipitously met at a London pub, where Sean, who had been divorced four times with three children, had sworn off marriage. However, meeting Ashley changed his perspective, leading to their union in 2014 and subsequent marriage three years later.
Expressing his admiration for his life partner, who has transformed his life, Sean remarked, “She exudes vitality, exuberance, and a very positive aura.”
Following his fifth marriage to Ashley, Sean revealed to The Times, “I’ve had more marriages than most people. There’s a part of me that is romantic; otherwise, I wouldn’t keep pursuing it. But I have no regrets. I would relive it all.”
