“Pacquiao Pursuing Rematch with Mayweather: Netflix at Forefront”

Manny Pacquiao has confirmed ongoing discussions for a highly anticipated rematch with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, with Netflix reportedly taking the lead in negotiations. The two iconic figures in the sport are at the center of talks to reignite their past rivalry.

Over a decade ago, Pacquiao and Mayweather generated over £500 million from US pay-per-view sales in what was considered one of the most eagerly awaited fights of that era. Despite Mayweather securing a clear victory, the bout fell short of the lofty expectations, with Pacquiao attributing his performance to a shoulder injury.

Having previously surprised the boxing world with his intentions for a rematch, Pacquiao remains eager to face Mayweather once more. The Filipino senator, now 46 years old, has expressed readiness to step back into the ring, emphasizing Mayweather’s role in making the rematch a reality.

“While Floyd will make a comeback, I am actively engaged in boxing, so the possibility is there,” Pacquiao stated in an interview with the Sun. He further added, “Discussions are underway for a potential rematch with Floyd. Given my current activity in the sport, a rematch is feasible only if he decides to return.”

Pacquiao revealed his post-fight motivation following his recent draw with Mario Barrios in July, where he aimed to claim the WBC welterweight title after a four-year hiatus. During the period between his defeat to Mayweather and his latest fight, Pacquiao remained busy with seven other bouts.

In contrast, Mayweather has participated in just two professional fights since his encounter with Pacquiao, achieving a flawless 50-0 record. The 48-year-old has mostly been involved in exhibition matches against opponents like Logan Paul and John Gotti III.

Interestingly, Pacquiao does not list Mayweather among his top rivals, instead naming Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, and Antonio Margarito. When questioned about Mayweather’s absence in his top opponents’ list, Pacquiao criticized Mayweather’s defensive tactics in their previous fight, labeling it as unexciting for fans who anticipated a more engaging contest.
