The FBI has unveiled a newly released video capturing the immediate aftermath of the fatal shooting of conservative figure Charlie Kirk. This video was showcased during a press conference held on Thursday evening, shedding light on the movements of the shooter following the tragic incident at Utah Valley University.
The footage shows a figure swiftly running across a rooftop after firing the fatal shot from a campus building near Kirk’s location. FBI agent Robert Bohls provided a detailed narration of the video, highlighting the individual’s actions as he made his escape by dropping down from the building.
Following the fall, the suspect, matching the description of the person of interest in the case, was seen crouching before moving out of the frame. Agent Bohls mentioned that this location is a key focus of the investigation, with potential DNA evidence left behind by the suspect.
During the press conference, Bohls highlighted specific identifying features of the suspect, including a black T-shirt with an American flag and eagle, Converse shoes, and a baseball cap with a triangle logo. Authorities also disclosed that a rifle with a long-range scope was recovered in a wooded area near the crime scene.
In an effort to solicit public assistance, US law enforcement released enhanced images of the suspect captured in a stairwell, further intensifying the search for the individual linked to Kirk’s death.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox emphasized the importance of public collaboration in apprehending the suspect, noting the substantial efforts made by investigators, including thousands of tips received and numerous interviews conducted. The state intends to pursue the death penalty for Kirk’s killer, marking a significant development in the case.
Despite the ongoing investigation, authorities remain unaware of the suspect’s identity or whereabouts. The search continues as law enforcement explores various leads and tips received from the public, striving to bring the perpetrator to justice.
As the press conference concluded, officials exited without further comments, leaving lingering questions from reporters. The uncertainty regarding the suspect’s current location adds complexity to the investigation, with authorities uncertain about whether the individual remains in the vicinity or has crossed state lines.
