A mother tragically passed away after being hit by a former partner’s car and dragged along the road. Lucia Aparecida da Silva, the mother of 31-year-old Tainara Souza Santos, expressed relief that her daughter’s suffering had ended and called for justice. Tainara was struck by a car in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and despite receiving medical treatment at Hospital das Clinicas, she succumbed to her injuries on December 24.
Following the incident on November 29, Tainara underwent surgery to amputate her legs and underwent back surgeries, but unfortunately, she could not be saved. She leaves behind a 12-year-old son and a seven-year-old daughter.
The suspect, Douglas Alves da Silva, 26, who had a brief relationship with the victim, has been in custody since November 30, and authorities are now treating the case as a murder investigation. According to reports, Tainara was hit by a Volkswagen Golf in the north of Sao Paulo after leaving a bar with friends in the early hours of the morning.
An acquaintance of Tainara, LetÃcia Conceição, claimed that the suspect had waited outside the bar, engaged in a physical altercation due to jealousy, and then drove his car at Tainara following an argument. Tainara ended up trapped under the vehicle, and despite rescue attempts by bystanders, Alves da Silva allegedly fled the scene at high speed, resulting in Tainara’s severe injuries. Upon his arrest, the suspect reportedly attempted to seize a police officer’s firearm and was subsequently shot.
Tainara’s mother, Lucia, took to Instagram to express gratitude for the support received and to demand justice following her daughter’s passing. In a heartfelt message, she informed her followers of Tainara’s demise, describing her as a “little warrior” who had departed to be with God, signaling the end of her suffering and the beginning of the quest for justice.
