Max Verstappen’s estimated wealth has surged by close to £44 million in the past year, pushing his total net worth to just under £230 million. The Red Bull Racing driver has advanced in the ranks of Quote 500, a compilation of the wealthiest individuals in the Netherlands, moving up to 264th place from 322nd the previous year.
Despite turning 28 in late September, Verstappen remains the youngest individual on the list, a title he has held since his debut in 2022. Initially entering as the 500th person with a net worth just above £105 million, Verstappen’s ascent through the rankings has been rapid, reaching the 428th spot a year later and then jumping up 106 places last year.
The entry threshold for this year’s list stands at just under £123 million. Notably, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk did not make the cut.
Forbes has positioned Verstappen as the 25th highest-paid athlete globally this year, with earnings slightly below £59 million. The majority of this income comes from his salary and winnings, with endorsements contributing £4.5 million.
In contrast, Lewis Hamilton holds the 22nd spot on that list, earning just over £60 million. Despite lower salary and winnings at slightly above £45 million, endorsements worth £15 million propel him ahead of Verstappen.
Earlier in the year, the Daily Mail reported that Aston Martin had proposed a colossal £750 million deal to Verstappen to cover his career’s remainder. Verstappen’s reaction at the time was: “it’s a lot of money,” followed by, “honestly, when I read that, it was the first time that I saw something like that.”
Verstappen has since confirmed his commitment to Red Bull for the upcoming season, having inked a contract in 2022 that extends until 2028, with reports suggesting the deal is valued at around £40 million per season.
