A man expecting his first child after an eight-year struggle with his partner passed away unexpectedly during a vacation with his pregnant fiancée.
Dean Potter, 34, and Zoe Adams, 31, were at Haven Caister-on-Sea holiday park in Norfolk celebrating their 11-year relationship in September 2025 when tragedy struck. Despite years of infertility challenges, they had just learned of Zoe’s 11-week pregnancy.
Zoe described Dean, a retail manager with no prior health issues, as appearing well until a sudden incident at 2 am on their last night together. She discovered him collapsed on the caravan floor and immediately initiated CPR while calling for help. Despite efforts to rush him to the hospital, Dean tragically passed away on September 26, 2025, due to previously undiagnosed heart disease.
Heartbroken Zoe, who cares for her mother full-time, shared that the trip had been full of joy and anticipation for their growing family. They had planned a short holiday filled with romantic dinners, walks by the seaside, and evening shows at the park.
The heartbreaking loss left Zoe shattered, especially knowing that Dean would never get to meet their child. In a show of support, Dean’s sister, Louise, launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses and provide for the baby’s future. The fundraiser has already raised over £4,000.
Louise expressed her grief over Dean’s sudden departure and hoped for the well-being of the unborn child. She believed that Dean was watching over Zoe and their baby from above, providing comfort in their time of need.
