“Former NYC Police Officers Rescue Woman & Baby from River”

Quick-thinking former police officers in New York City rescued a woman with a 5-month-old baby from the East River.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning in the East River when the woman walked into the water up to her neck with the infant, prompting the ex-officers to act swiftly.

According to reports from the New York Post, retired officer Kevin O’Donnell and his colleague, Paul Pinsdorf, who has 20 years of police experience, were attending a local Halloween parade when they heard screams and rushed to the river’s edge to lend assistance.

Pinsdorf, without hesitation, entered the water to rescue the woman and the baby, as O’Donnell called for emergency help.

Describing the tense situation, Pinsdorf mentioned that the baby was almost submerged, requiring immediate action to save them both. Despite the woman’s resistance, Pinsdorf managed to bring them to safety with O’Donnell’s support.

O’Donnell praised Pinsdorf as a hero for his quick and courageous actions in pulling the woman out of the water, highlighting his bravery in the face of adversity.

The rescue operation faced challenges, including a language barrier with the woman causing a disturbance as they reached the shore. However, emergency services swiftly intervened, successfully extracting both individuals from the water.

Following the rescue, the woman was taken to North Shore University Hospital, while the baby was transported to New York Presbyterian for further medical attention. The NYPD has not disclosed the relationship between the woman and the infant or the motive behind her actions.
