A bettor has successfully transformed a £10 wager into nearly £50,000 by placing a six horse accumulator bet with only one winning selection. The customer, who bet through William Hill, cashed out £47,351.56 after selecting horses to finish in an each-way sixfold, with a total stake of £10, at races held in Cheltenham, Doncaster, and Newbury on Saturday.
What made this win particularly remarkable was that out of the six horses chosen, only one emerged as the victor. The winning streak commenced with Great Fleet securing second place in a novices’ hurdle at Cheltenham, with odds of 25-1, followed by Hoe Joly Smoke finishing third in a handicap chase at 12-1.
Moving on to Doncaster, Figjam, with odds of 16/1, clinched second place in a Listed race. The journey continued back at Cheltenham where Supremely West (18-1) took third in a handicap hurdle before Arabian Desert finished as runner-up in the Horris Hill Stakes at Newbury (16/1).
The climax of the bet rested on Hamish in the St Simon Stakes, with the nine-year-old securing victory and delivering odds of 11-2 for the lucky punter. The significant win was further enhanced by securing Best Odds Guaranteed on two of the selections.
William Hill spokesperson, Lee Phelps, expressed astonishment at the bet, stating, “To turn a £5 each-way sixfold into nearly £50,000 is sensational work, especially with just one winning selection. This once again highlights the benefits of Best Odds Guaranteed for punters. Nonetheless, credit must be given to this bettor for achieving such an extraordinary feat, and we commend their success!”
