Aldi has recently integrated InPost Lockers into over 500 of its stores across the UK. These lockers offer shoppers the convenience of collecting and returning online orders while they complete their routine grocery shopping. Aldi has successfully introduced InPost lockers to 536 stores in England, Scotland, and Wales, with plans to expand them to more locations in the following months. The supermarket aims to have at least 600 stores equipped with lockers by the end of the year, out of its total 1,050 stores.
Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, emphasized the importance of convenience and efficiency for their customers. He expressed the supermarket’s commitment to saving customers time and money by providing a seamless experience for parcel collection and returns alongside their regular shopping trips.
Neil Kuschel, CEO at InPost UK, highlighted the collaborative efforts between InPost and Aldi to enhance the shopping experience for customers throughout the UK. Together, they aim to offer a more convenient, cost-effective, and sustainable solution for managing parcels, ensuring that collection and returns are easily accessible for shoppers.
In line with its expansion plans, Aldi has released a list of priority locations in the UK for new store openings. The supermarket is seeking sites capable of accommodating stores with specific dimensions and amenities, including locations suitable for the Aldi Local store format in Central London.
For individuals with potential sites that meet Aldi’s criteria, they are encouraged to reach out to realestateacquisitions@aldi.co.uk. This expansion initiative is part of Aldi’s £650 million investment this year, aligning with the long-term goal of operating 1,500 stores in the UK.
Moreover, Aldi announced earlier this year a pay increase for its store assistants, with hourly rates rising to a minimum of £12.75 and £14.05 within the M25 area. The supermarket has also committed to further pay raises for store colleagues starting from September 2025, increasing the minimum hourly rates to £12.85 nationally and £14.16 within the M25 zone.
